Spring is in the air!  Welcome back to Year 2!

We will be kicking off the new year with a look at the stars in a moon dome!

Our English learning will include:

We are starting by looking at the text ‘Flat Stanley’ by Jeff Brown and writing descriptions of the main character. We will then be creating our own adventure for Stanley to go on.

After this we will be moving onto writing an information text to 'Beegu' to advise her about Earth and invite her to visit again.

Our  guided reading texts for this term are: ‘The Tiger Who Came To Tea’, ‘Meerkat Mail’ and ‘The Owl and the Pussycat’.

Our Maths learning will include:

During this half term, we will be learning to multiply numbers by making arrays and counting in groups of 2, 3, 5 and 10.  We will also be learning multiplication facts for the 2, 5 and 10 times table off by heart.

After this we will be learning to find related division facts for the 2, 5 and 10 times tables, as well as dividing by sharing and grouping numbers.

Science
Animals including humans. 

PE    Indoor PE – Gymnastics, Outdoor games – Basketball

Music  Listen 2 Me: We continue to have lessons from Hampshire Music Service each Monday afternoon.  This term we have ‘Bamboo Tamboo’ where we will be exploring rhythm. 

Art       In the first half of the term we will be using drawing, painting and printing techniques to make artwork inspired by artists from the 1960s including Andy Warhol and Bridget Riley.

Computing       In our Computing lessons this term we will be learning to use the internet safely, using websites we trust. We will also be learning to use the programmes Microsoft Word, 2Paint a Picture, 2Code and 2Music Toolkit

Library

The children in Year 2 will be able to change their library book on Tuesdays in 2VT and Fridays in 2S.
